-Donna didn’t quite win me over in The Runaway Bride, but this episode conclusively proved she is simply made of awesome. Also, her interaction with her grandpa might just be the cutest thing ever (as was that little wave at the end!).

-As soon as I heard ‘magic diet pills’, my mind immediately went to the scenario where the weight loss doesn’t stop and people just waste away…why yes, I have read Stephen King’s “Thinner”. Of course, this being Doctor Who, what actually happened was absurd with a side of creepy…the creepy mostly being tempered with the WTFness of it all.

-I’m not familiar with the actress playing Ms Foster, but she can definitely give menace in an extremely civilized way.

-Yes Doctor, you were a bit of an ass to Martha. Mind you, it would have been better to aknowledge that to her face, but I’ll take what I can get.

-How does anyone still chose to live in London in the Whoverse? And why were the crowds screaming at the sight of the spaceship? It’s certainly not a novel experience-“Oh, random aliens spreading chaos, must be Tuesday”.

-So, Rose. *settles down for a long, wanky season*

-Holy shit, they actually *went* there. Oh, Tosh! And Owen, I suppose, but between not caring for the character very much and the suspicion Mr Zombie may still turn up again, I’m broken up over this one. But-TOSH!

-As much as I enjoyed James Marsters as Captain John, I hope this doesn’t turn into a regular gig. We already have one oversexed American Time Agent on the show, you know? As a reoccurring character though, I could see the potential.

-PC Andy continues to amuse-moar of him, plz!

-I must say though, for all the emotional heartstrings being pulled with the Big Deaths, the episode itself failed to deliver. I mean, the Grey storyline was like something a newbie fanfic writer delivers on their first, not-so-successful attempt at darkfic. Surrounded by corpses? You don’t say! And I suppose the HORROR of it all tragically left you with an inability to emote. (Seriously, how do some of those actors get WORK?)

-MY SHOW IS BACK, YES IT IS!

-Honestly, I’m sure people have criticisms of the episode. Some valid ones, even. But right now the critical part of my fannish thought process has shut down entirely, and I spent an hour squeeing at everything. STARBUCK! Final four! Tigh continuing to be amazingly compelling, and when the hell did THAT happen? Anders getting hotter by the minute! Tory….wait, I kind of always thought of her as a robot, so no surprises there.

-Baltar both grosses me out and fascinates me. No change there, then.

-Athena interrupting the Chief and Anders’ Cylon existential freakout=comedy gold. Maybe the Chief can borrow her copies of “Ways to a better, more compassionate Cylon you” and “Your hybrid child: because your baby is literally a miracle”.

-Roslin and Starbuck, ZOMG, is it next week already?

LOL
I had just asked (in another post) if you had seen Doctor Who yet... and I see you have! I LOVED Donna, she is so funny, and down to earth, she can give that 'WTF' look better than anyone. And I loved the weight loss plan, I would sign up, but I would want to keep the little fat babies (although I'm not sure how many of them I would want to keep). Too cute and silly. I hope we'll see poor little journalist Penny again, she was really good. And didn't the Doctor throw the sonic pen (so much cooler than a sonic lipstick!) in the same bin where Donna threw the car keys?
LOL

I liked Torchwood's finale more than you, and way more than [livejournal.com profile] liluv. I thought it did a good job of tying up loose ends. But agree that Gray was a weak Big Bad, and it is really kind of lame that the only people who lived were the ones who are hot for Captain Jack (no problem w/screwing in the office now, since everyone wants in on it). I have never been a huge Torchwood fan so I'm not really worried about what they'll do next year.

Oh God, BSG totally kicked ass! They really had an intense first episode to their last season, and I was thrilled with the stuff they were doing. I'm getting more and more in to Baltar because he just keeps getting stranger.

So basically I'm very happy w/all the wonderful TV shows - but I'm watching WAY more than you are! Have you seen :
Dirt
Samantha Who
Reaper
and some of the other silliness on TV? I really enjoy these... and a lot more.

HA! I missed that. There's a crackfic idea in there somewhere about Donna's mum and her wacky adventures with the sonic pen.

...er. That sounded kind of dirty, and I didn't mean it to.

I don't mind the Jack/Ianto, but the character of Gwen is seriously starting to piss me off.

I've seen some S1 episodes of Dirt, and I'm religiously (no pun intended) watching Reaper. Never heard of Samantha Who before, what is it about?

well I do expect that sonic pen to make another appearance.... and now you have me thinking about sonic dildos, which is just... wrong.

It is really frustrating what the writers of Torchwood did to the character of Gwen, she was a strong interesting woman in the first season, and here in the finale... but they spent most of season 2 making her a stupid lame character who seems to marry one guy while having some stupid crush on another.... I don't know what the writers are thinking of, but 'Something Borrowed' was their worst episode ever, which is really saying something.

Oh I love Samantha Who!, it is about this really bitchy manipulative young woman (played by Christine Applegate who was so funny in the old Married With Children) who got a head injury, followed by a coma, and now came out of it all with amnesia.... She doesn't remember being a horrible bitch and is trying to undo the damage she used to do, but occasionally she'll have this impulsive bitchy reaction to things. It is very funny, I don't know if it was her family or something that happened in High School, and of course I don't know if she'll go back to being that terrible woman at some point. It is very silly & snarky.

About Torchwood...you know, I really think the creator has some fetish about the 'heroine' falling for the 'leading man'. Just witness the cases of Rose and Martha.

Samantha Who sounds a bit like My Name Is Earl...which I love. And I appreciate Christina Applegate's comedic talent too, so I might check it out when/if I find the time.

Boy, did Torchwood suck, didn´t it? What a letdown. Only, not really since much of the second series wasn´t exactly a winner anyway.

Couldn´t agree more about the acting uh "quality" displayed on TW. But then Gray, the Big Bad, the ubervillain had about 5 minutes screentime and 3 lines to deliver, so I guess his range was meant to be limited. Did anybody really give a shit about his past and current schemes?

So we are left with the three lovebirds now. Great. Now let Captain John join the team and they all can fancy Captain Jack at their little group meetings. Maybe they make little poetry albums where they rave about his awesome jawline or something. Can´t wait.

Doctor Who was the opposite for me. I loved every minute of it. Donna was great. Love her, love her with the Doctor and can´t wait to see more of the screwball comedy they have going.

How are you doing btw.?

Well, I liked series 2 better than 1 at any rate...much of it having to do with Martha's guest sting. But I agree that the episode was a bit of a dud overall. I like Torchwood better when they stick to silliness and the gay, they're *really* not good at The Serious Stuff. I mean, it's still funny, but we end up laughing AT them, you know?

LOL! Meow! ;) I sometimes forget how snarky you can get...ah, the days of our old chats in MM's chatroom.

Doctor Who was awesomecakes indeed. This season will be great!

I'm good. Actually, seing your comment after Maribeth's motivated me to FINALLY get off my ass and post in FOV. Just in case you guys had written me off entirely. :P
