Regarding Dexter's feelings for Debra as him being oblivious, I wholeheartedly agree. And yet, I've a feeling that might change. Throughout the seasons, we've seen Dexter evolve somewhat.
You pointed out above that Dexter failed to notice the predatory nature of Travis and Louis' creepiness. I believe this might be due to his evolution. He's gradually becoming more human and less sociopath, which doesn't make too much sense but I'm putting a heavy suspension of disbelief regarding the psychology aspect of Dexter and taking it at story's worth.
As he evolves, he loses what makes him a great hunter. It wouldn't surprise me if he starts gaining humanity, which he's been doing, and that being shown as him becoming more perceptive to other details and human life going on around him. Less perspection on the negative, more on the positive. Does that make sense?
That being said, I don't particularly like the evolution. Not just on a psychology basis, but more on a personal like sort of thing. I find it fascinating and interesting as a story to watch, but I personally love him when he's playing the role of the monster.
However...
I'm betting that Laguerta may wind up on Dexter's table one day. It might be due to the Dexter/Deb thing. It might be due to her making a very bad slip that costs lives while she plays politics. Which is almost a pity, really, since I liked her best when she was being human. Playing politics but for the sake of something besides herself. That was Slytherin as well. Ambition for ambition's sake, not just for oneself, but it could easily be applied to a group of people. Now that she has her promotion, she seems to have lost any and all camaraderie toward the ones who once helped her. It feels like her characterization has either taken a backslide, or that she's always had this part of her that was just waiting in the wings. Much like Dexter is evolving into a human, she seems to be doing the opposite.
I have a huge love for Deb in this season. In that dressing-down of Angel and Quinn, yeah, they had it coming, but I swear you could see her just falling apart. She looked like she was about to cry or scream or do both while wrecking her office. She's just intense all around this season, which I guess is needed for her character. I'd love to see her gradually kick more and more ass in her new position.
Regarding Travis, why isn't Geller coming by anymore? I kinda miss him. I know Travis knows he's dead and all, but knowing that Harry's dead doesn't keep him from coming back.
Wonder if Brian knew Louis or did Louis just go through the police records and such to find out of Brian and Dexter's relation. I don't think all of that subplot will be wrapped up in the next episode. Perhaps Louis will be the main villain for next season? He's in a good position to be, but I don't quite get his angle.
