ishtar79-SIR LEON! Of *course* he was going to be that brave when faced with Morgana, but he still rocked the hell out of that scene.
-I’ve been having issues with Smirkganna all season, but I must say her acting is much better when being openly evil than her LOLtastic attempts at ‘stealth’.
-Aww, Merlin, don’t you know there is no way a rat dish would make Arthur feel better? It just reminds him of when they tricked Morganna into eating some.
-I enjoyed Merlin’s “Snap out of your royal Manpain, shit is going down” speech to Arthur.
-So, Morganna hated Uther for executing innocents but shooting at random subjects is a-okay. Whatever. All she’s missing is a longed-haired cat and a moustache she can twirl.
-ASH > everybody. I’m just saying. He almost made me feel for Uther. Almost.
-Damn, but I could buy the depth of Morganna’s hatred for him. That entire scene? Fucking CHILLS.
-GWEN! Being all double-agent and stealthy! Even if it didn’t work. Btw, the way she snapped at the guard to get Leon water? Shades of Queen Gweneviere.
-Whatever, Evil Overlord “She’ll be executed in the morning” announcements aside, you know the betrayal HURT Morganna like hell.
-And Merlin keeps trying to do magic in the cave where presumably everyone is sleeping.
-Yay, Gwen doing blacksmith stuff. Her father’s presence was really felt in this episode.
-Damn, Gwaine is so awesome, he manages to solve problems and advance the plot just by going to pee.
-FREYA! I KNEW IT!
-Zombie army! Zombies make everything better.
-Poor Slash Dragon, demoted to a taxi service.
-…Did I just seriously see a moment of slashiness between Merlin and the Dragon. Oh God, I’m turning into one of those slashers who see innuendo in everything I hear so much about!
-EXCALIBUR! I almost wish the promo monkeys hadn’t spoiled that one.
-Sir Leon in a dress, I may never stop laughing!
-I see Morganna has been hitting the Medieval Mac lipstick section: Rouge de Evil, for all your Femme Fatale needs.
-I’d talk about the way Arthur just grabbed Gwen in a way as discreet as Morganna’s smirks, but I’m too amused by the hug between her and Gwaine in the background just before they all went into panic mode. I understand Gwen, I’d do it too.
-It’s Lancelot, and he brought along a mountain…er, “Percival”.
-The round table! With Arthur, and the knights, and Gwen, and Merlin, and my heart can’t TAKE IT. How the hell does this silly, silly show get those occasional moment of PURE EPIC?
-OMG, they speeches, so fitting. Lancelot being all knightly, Gwaine being…Gwaine, Gwen not needing to say the words, and of course Merlin’s dorkiness. I ship them ALL with each other right now. Er, except Gaius. Sorry.
-So why must we rescue Uther (besides ASH’s awesomeness)? Does anybody think Arthur is NOT ready to be king NOW?
-DAYUM, did Lancelot get sexier? I was having trouble following the discussion of magic (IN FULL HEARING OF…oh, why do I even bother) because I kept expecting him and Merlin to make out.
-Awww, that Arthur/Gwen scene! But seriously, Gwen, “they’ll see”? Hate to break it to you, but EVERYONE KNOWS. Sir Leon may have been mildly surprised, but he’s too polite to stare.
-I love that everyone’s personality comes out even in the way they swordfight.
-Whatever, we all know that Lancelot doesn’t actually die.
-GAIUS DOING MAGIC! I half-expected him too when Gwen couldn’t find him at the castle, but it was still AWESOME. About time he fucking did something beyond standing idly by.
-Poor Morgause. Such an anticlimactic (maybe) death scene.
-Holy shit, Morganna went all Harry Potter at the end of OotP on them!
-Damn, Uther is looking *destroyed*. ASH: can say more with one expression than other actors can say in a movie.
-My heart just skipped a beat for Gwaine, I won’t lie.
-I loved the understated scene in the steps as much as the last one epic shot of the knights and Gwen.
-Wait, so all this, and Uther still doesn’t know about Morganna’s magic, Morganna about Merlin’s, and Arthur about ANYTHING?

Date: 2010-12-05 04:03 am (UTC)And Morgana was hurt and surprised that Gwen was no longer loyal? Um, doesn't she remember that she has tried to kill Gwen at least twice this year? Or did she just assume that Gwen hadn't noticed? *eyeroll*
I'm so glad this series is picked up for next year, it is silly but HUGE fun! I'll forgive them for making Arthur a little bit (enormously?) blind about Merlin since the show is actually moving ahead in the mythology and we have some exciting stuff to look forward to.

I'm so looking forward to next season. Hopefully more people will find out about Merlin.

Date: 2010-12-05 04:48 pm (UTC)And while I am not entirely on the ASH fan-bandwagon (I find his performance of Uther boringly one-sided, which of course is mainly due to the writing), when he acted all broken and disappointed his acting chops could no longer be denied. He´s is so friggin´ brilliant, I wish they´d given him more scenes like that. And make him even a tiny bit more likeable.
I couldn´t agree more about Morganna. I wouldn´t mind not seeing her again, because her Mrs. Blofeld performance is kind of meh. Hated the evil smirk. Every single time.
love Gwain as well, but I am strangely untouched by Lancelot. I find him a bit melancholically dull. And I have to say his speech about Arthur made me cringe a bit with embarassment. I know he is supposed to be a loyal knight and all that, but "nice sucking up" came to my mind.

The SMIRK. It KILLS me.
I'm normally not on the Lancelot love train, but I enjoyed him in this. And I didn't see the speech as sucking up-he's painfully earnest. Gwaine is the BEST.
