I’ve watched Star Trek, and while my squee can barely be contained, I think I’ll save a review for after the second viewing (planned this for Saturday).

Have the music meme instead:

The Rules:

1. Reply to this post and I'll assign you a letter.
2. List (and upload) 5 songs that begin with that letter.
3. Post them to your journal with these instructions.

[profile] scarah2 gave me the letter R

1. Runaway by the Yeah Yeah Yeahs I’m all about the Yeah Yeah Yeahs these days-I’m kind of in love with Karen O’s creative vocals, and the fact they seem to shift music genres with every album. I prefer their more high-energy songs but, well, this one starts with an R!
2. Red Hott by the Gossip Another band I only recently discovered. I knew Beth Ditto only through the controversy-I had no idea the woman can SING. I think I prefer the rawer, more bluesy sound of her earlier albums to the more polished recent work.
3. Rub ‘till it bleeds by PJ Harvey …It’s PJ fucking Harvey. I think any further commentary is superfluous.
4. Roads by Portishead Oh man, the song selection is making me come off like an angsty teenager, isn’t it? It’s just how the titles worked out, though this particular one (and really, the entirety of Glory Box) is actually something I listened to when I was an angsty teenager. ANGST MOAR!
5. Reise, reise by Rammstein Because anything by Rammstein is just plain awesome.

[personal profile] ariadneelda gave me T

1. The future by Leonard Cohen From the Natural Born Killers soundtrack, which I had pretty much on constant play during my first year at Uni. Haunting, disturbing and a bit of a mindfuck, not unlike the film.
2. Taste in Men by Placebo One of my favourite Placebo songs-I don’t think I’ll ever tire of it.
3.Take the Box by Amy Winehouse This is from her jazzy début album Frank rather than the more famous Back To Black. Listening to this makes incredibly sad at the wasted talent and the almost complete certainty we won’t get another album from her, because I doubt she’d come down long enough for that. (Or really, survive that long-but hey, maybe she'll turn out to be the new Keith Richards and defy all odds)
4. The World Is Not Enough by Garbage Yes, I realize it’s a freakin’ Bond song, but any music list of mine would be incomplete without Garbage, and it’s the only T song of them I have in my computer.
5. The Becoming by NIN Unlike some of the other entries of the list, I was spoiled for choice when it comes to NIN songs starting with T. I settled on this because I think it simply embodies the essence of the band.
6. Terrible Thought by Poe One of the many, many songs I discovered through a fanvid-there’s something about Poe’s lyrics that seems to lends itself to the genre. This is one being a spot-on depiction of obsession.
7. Toxicity by System of a Down I still have no idea what the hell the lyrics are actually about, but as with other loud, screamy songs that get me on the dancefloor, I don’t actually care.
8. Tainted Love by Marylin Manson I like the original version just fine, but Manson takes it to a whole other level. The man has the ability to take on an 80s tune with a pop sound (see also: Sweet Dreams) and to make the words sound as if they were written specifically for his style of music.

Oh can I have a letter?
And I"m glad you saw & liked the Star Trek, [livejournal.com profile] biffsbabe and [livejournal.com profile] liluv and I have also seen it and really enjoyed it! Frankly I had thought that I would NEVER accept Sylar as Spock, but in fact I accepted him immediately... he was wonderful!

I give you...K!

Star Trek was AWESOME. I was sceptical (understatement) about Sylar as Spock, but he completely won me over. I want that movie out on DVD NOW, so I can watch it a billion times.

well I'm embarrassed that I was such a failure with 'K' since [livejournal.com profile] liluv and [livejournal.com profile] talimama had no trouble w/it at all (see their responses at FoV)....

but wait a darn minute here, what is the deal w/[livejournal.com profile] scarah2 giving you 'M' and you picking songs that start with "R" Huh? huh? What's up with that?!

We're all on pins and needles waiting to hear about Dollhouse, I worry that Fox is just teasing us with the hope that it will be renewed....

Er, what happened is that I wrote this sleepless and tipsy. I meant R.
