All right, I realise that too much time in fandom may have irreparably warped my less than squicky clean to begin with mind, but seriously, shouldn’t whoever in the publishing business decides a book’s title perhaps taken a pause at this one?

Amazon reviews for “Penetrating Wagner’s Ring”

"Initially I had a hard time getting into Wagner's ring, no matter how much I pushed myself, I just couldn't slip into it. However, I found that slowly, after repeated attempts, Wagner's ring loosened up and permitted me the access I'd been seeking."

"The expansiveness of Wagner's Ring often leaves one panting for breath, and anyone lucky enough to have even half-probed its depths deserves full recognition. Even without the messy bits, this sixteen-hour musical epic leaves one with no alternative but to reacharound for academic help."

"When I initially came across Wagner's Ring it was like a revelation. I couldn't quite put my finger on it - but I wanted to. Within minutes of dimming my lights and burying my head into it I became enveloped in its cavernous depths. Now having withdrawn, I feel that by entering the ring myself, a little hole in me has been filled. I thoroughly recommend everyone to take the plunge into Wagner's wonderful piece."

"Among the highlights is the revealing chapter on the many characters than Wagner has managed to cram into his Ring. Also covered are the brass instruments that Wagner designed specifically for insertion within the Ring. There will always be those who are opposed to musical analysis (just the same as there will always be those who resort to juvenile humour, regarding the title). They will say that Wagner's Ring is 'violated' with excessive force of scholarship. For this reviewer, however, Wagner's Ring remains quite intact and is indeed tightened by the exploration. In short, this stimulating venture in and out of Wagner's Ring has resulted in a seminal, fluid output."

Wouldn't it just?

One of the comments was talking about people's reactions when they saw him reading it in the subway. *giggle*

Oh, dear. Maybe I should lay off the NC-17 slashfic, but come on. Do you think everyone was writing those reviews with tongue in cheek?

It's good to know that the general public is as dirty-minded as us fandomers!

AHAHA, the last one wins for the surprise twist!

They probably did that on purpose in the first place...

I'm kind fond of 'reacharound for academic help" myself. :D

And it was probably on purpose. "Hm, how do I make this stand out from all the other random academic books?"

Kind of like whoever came up with the title for this movie:
