And replying to this as a note for your above Once and Future King comment: it started off as Charles's favorite book in the X-Tinction Agenda where he talks about how he sees himself as Merlyn instead of Arthur. They borrowed that for the movies, and then passed it back to the comics so now it's also Erik's favorite.
