They were running out of steam because they essentially swept the dramatic potential of the Maquis-Starfleet crew merger under the rug and chose to focus on silly time-travel episodes. Voyager: the show of missed opportunities.
I was so perplexed the first time I heard someone hating on Seven (I think it was Spicywings actually. That was around that time that lovely thread about young cute JM fans being 'sluts' for, um, dressing like young cute girls and getting James' attention. No wonder I was fed up with that board). How could anyone hate on Seven? She's AWESOME.
Jeri Ryan ROCKED the role. And Seven got some of the best lines (remember that time she got drunk and was doing the Borg version of the lovey drunk with the Doctor: "You have been of the outmost assistance. We are as one!"). I still find myself randomly dropping "irrelevant" in conversations-though of course it's the arch way she said it that made it so effective.
