-I’m trying to talk myself out of buying a paid DW account for a few more months, if only because my PERMANENT IJ account currently gathering dust has taught me not to rush into those things. But…icons!

-Does anybody the approximate date for Merlin S2? I’m going through shiny teevee withdrawal.

A New Day by kodiak_bear Summary: After Jim tells Bones to 'Buckle Up', where'd they go first? This is that mission. I didn’t realize how much I craved some general adventure fic before reading this. Engrossing, with elements of horror and humour mixed in and great portrayals of the crew-a must read.

A delightful and funny series of ficlets by chaletian showing life on the ship after the movie from various character’s perspective: It Takes A Village, Birds Do It, Bees Do It, Even Post-Pubescent Russians Do It , Faites Vos Jeux // Rien Ne Va Plus and This Story Is Not Humorous .

Things Unsaid by idea_of_sarcasm Summary: Four times Spock couldn't say 'I love you', one time he tried (and one time he did) Despite the summary and the fact it contains Spock/Uhura, I’m filing this under ‘gen’ as it is so much more than shippy fic. It’ll break your heart in the best way.

in her aspect and her eyes by liviapenn Summary: Elementary logic leads to an obvious conclusion. Absolutely excellent Spock/Uhura pre-relationship interaction, with what is implied as present as what is actually said and a fantastic Spock voice.

Stuck to You by giandujakiss Kirk/Spock/Uhura Fun, energetic, flawlessly edited, I simply can’t stop watching this over and over. Fandom clearly needs more vids and fic of this OT3.

We Go Together by such_heights It’s Grease meets Trek. And it really, really WORKS. Something about the movie seems to be bringing out unapologetic expressions of fannish love from vidders/writers, and I LOVE it!

The name of this story is your name by beccatoria FINALE SPOILERS Summary: What if Caprica didn't actually die. Ever. This story is all kinds of epic. Chilling, original, absolutely engrossing…I don’t think I’ve ever read a BSG fic quite like this. Scratch that, I don’t think I’ve ever read a fanfic quite like this, period.

I never bought myself a paid account over on IJ, but I always saw it as a temporary solution. But here on DW, I bought a paid account as soon as they became available. Because, supporting DW! And also, icons, polls, more sites to crosspost to, etc, but mainly, supporting DW.

No, you don't have to post about EU politics, if you don't want to. Write about Hermione/Snape instead. I'd like to hear more about your thoughts on that pairing (and your favourite fics, too).

EU politics? Glad you let me off the hook for this one, because it would be short...and boring! I'll do the SS/HG one when I get my thoughts together.

Yeah, I also get tempted to buy an account so I can have more icons – having just FRINGE and LOST icons feels a bit limiting in terms of how I represent myself here. But it's really too soon for me to spend money here, especially with the economy being in serious flux. Maybe by Autumn I'll have a better idea of how I mesh with DW. :)

OT, but I'm generally bummed because I wanted to go to NY this summer and my friend who lives there has taken on a new project and will be too busy for houseguests. On the plus side, she said I could visit after September, so I'm hoping to do that (circumstances allowing) in the not-too-distant future (depending on when my exams are/what job I'll have). OMG, I really need to meet you at some point!

If you do make it over to NYC after September it would be GREAT – I'm sure sistermagpie and teratologist would be totally psyched to meet you as well! Keep me posted!
