I realise it’s been about a gazillion years since my last update-RL has been on the stressful side, and I haven’t exactly in the mood for fandom, or the Internet, or much of anything besides vegging out in front of old X-Files episodes (I’ve only just gotten into that, btw. Never let it be said that I can’t be decades late to a party).

I need to get caught up on old posts, but since that’s a near-impossible feat, can someone point me to what I may have missed? Fics, wanks, the next wave of 6A’s assitude, anything?

A quick movie rec: I went to see For the Bible tells me so at a Film Festival-it was actually the European premiere, and the director was there, which was pretty cool. It’s a documentary about the Christian Right attack on homosexuality, narrated through the stories of several gay people coming from religious backgrounds. I rarely cry at movies, and I did at several points in this-and yet, despite the heaviness of the subject and the truly terrifying sight that are religious fundamentalists (and I’m still trying to wrap my mind around the concept that these people are for real-they’re such caricatures, they’d be funny in any context besides reality), there was definitely a quiet hopefulness throughout. I recommend it without reservations.

The only thing I can think of that you might have missed is the mass exodus from the TWOP House forum. We all migrated elsewhere out of protest of the shitty ass attitude of the new people in charge at TWOP. If you're interested I can get you the link.

Yya for getting into the X-Files. I loved that show so much. I still read Mulder/Krycek fics occasionally.

I'll keep an eye out for that movie, it will be more likely that Netflix will probably have it soon than anything like that ever getting into our theater here(one theater, only big movies).

Mass exodus from TWP? What happened? I'm definitely interested in the link!

Long story short, but a few months ago TWOP was bought by Bravo and they have gotten themselves a bunch of new moderators. Most forums are doing fine, but the one moderating the House forum(we affectionally refer to her as Darth)is very strict: banning people for no real reason at all, suspending people for no real reason(one of the mods at the new place got suspended for using 'snark' *rolleyes*), removing posts for no real reason, editing posts without any notes, she has no knowledge of the show so was interrupting conversations that were perfectly on topic saying that they were off-topic, a completely confusing spoiler policy, so yeah fun all around.

We got so fed up with that, with we I mean the HoYay people since she was targeting that thread specifically at first, we started our own little forum called 'House's House of Whining' and more and more people are coming over from that place. I'm so happy I can post again without having to triple check if what I'm saying might be offensive or something.

link: http://houseofwhining.com/index.php I hope to see you there :)

wow, that was a lot longer than I was anticipating lol.

Thanks for the tip--sounds good!

Welcome to the craziness of the X-files!

The X-Files is definitely crazy, especially the mess that were the last couple of seasons.

And, from what I can gather, so was the fandom. The fic's pretty good though.

Oh I'm glad you are watching The X-Files, I really enjoyed that when I first discovered it, Mulder was a cutie.
And I don't think anything has been happening online, except that a lot of people were annoyed by 'talk like a pirate day', which I found very easy to ignore.

I'm sorry RL has been stressful, I hope things are getting better now, and not just getting worse.

RL is kind of looking up, since I found a temporary job-it's only for two weeks, translating some stuff into Bulgarian, but hey, I'll get paid at least!

I got your package today, thanks a lot! I'll read them on the weekend, when I actually manage to catch a moment for myself.

Oh I'm glad you got the package, I am really loving these, they can never replace the TV show but they are a lot of fun.

Translating is a good gig, I'm surprised you don't get more work like that since your English is so perfect, and you speak German too don't you?

Weeell, my current OTP became canon *yay yay yaaaay!!* but you don't care about that! It's Kurogane and Fai from the manga Tsubasa Reservior Chronicle BTW. Isn't it good that there are manga writers in the world that would make M/M and F/F ships canon, even in an action (i.e. most of the readers in Japan would be boys) series?

Hee, I don't know the fandom, but I'm happy for you. And canon slash ships rule!

I'm impressed you can veg in front of the X-Files. The only times I ever watched it, I practically needed to draw diagrams to follow it!

I've just given up trying to figure out the Mythology, it makes life easier.

Good to hear from you. I actually wondered if you left LJ entirely after the massive deletion eh 'accident'.

I enjoyed some of the X-Files when they aired, but I don´t have the stomach for most of it. I liked the Scully/Mulder relationship though and had I known about shipping back then I´d probably have shipped them.

The movie sounds interesting, I´ll check for it. Thanks for the rec.

No, I'm still on lj. I just haven't had much time to get online, not the least of reasons being that my mum moved again, and we spend an insane amount of time on it.

I totally ship Mulder/Scully.

X-philes

Ah, The X-Files were one of my first tv obsessions. When life gives you aliens, make ships, or something like that. Too bad the last two seasons really stunk it up. However, in its heyday, they managed to produce the kind of consistently high quality storytelling that Lost can only dream of - standalone eps that ran the gamut from silly to creepy to outright gross; mythology eps that were tantalizing and so wonderfully complicated you could really sink your teeth into them.

I'm sorry life is so stressful! Apply episodes of X-Files liberally until you melt into a puddle of goo.

The last two seasons were teh suck, but at least I was prepared for that. And the X-Files is awesome, I can't believe it took me that long to discover them.
