Are you me? I've always maintained Angela Bassett would make a *great* Storm. But even if they couldn't secure her, I'm sure there are unknown actresses who could do a much better job than Halle. I think the problem is that filmakers wanted to secure a big name, and didn't care that much about whether she fit the character.
And I agree with all you said about Claremont. His writing had *heart*, something sadly missing from most comics these days.
