I think Amber is Hollywood gorgeous(though Allison probably isn't), they just hid it as good as possible. It's not hard to make someone look sort of chubby next to later season's SMG, AH and little Michelle, but I think that was a deliberate TV illusion. Not that I'm having a specific point here.
