Some drive-by links

I have to say, fandom seems to be handling all of this remarkably well, given the circumstances. The future is still uncertain, but at least people are putting forth actual useful ideas and suggestions. We'll see.

On the topic of a fan-created lj equivalent, there seem to be a lot of projects running simultaneously. [livejournal.com profile] fandom_flies is a good place to check out for startes, as it references some of the other projects too.

I've managed to back up all my entries on both gj and ij. I was this close to cutting and pasting everything manually, but this awesome entry by [livejournal.com profile] brown_betty describes a much easier way. It won't save your comments, or any of the paid account features (like polls), but it's a start.

thanks, I've been trying to decide if I care enough to back up...
I've enjoyed my lj, and I wouldn't want to lose it, but I'm not really sure it is worth backing up.

The backing up process itself is simple enough, so it might not be a bad idea to save it, just in case.

Your lj is perfectly safe anyway-it's only fandom ljs being targeted.

Would your entries really be in danger? You don't write much fic.

I doubt they'd be in danger, but I'd rather have my lj backed up just in case.
