Dexter 6x03
-UGH, Quinn, you disgusting slimeball piece of shit. Showing up to work with his tongue shoved some random blonde's throat, and then actually trying to turn Angel against Deb with blatant lies? I've gone from strong annoyance with the character to wondering how he'd look on Dexter's table.
-Ok, so there's definitely something going on with the perky new forensics assistant beyond providing fodder for Masuka's masturbatory fantasies. Her interest in the Ice Truck Killer is very suspicious, and should have set off alarm bell in Masuka's head...if there was any blood flow actually reaching it. I did love the way she dissed Quinn.
-I loved how Deb's mini-freakout about her new job was done (starting from the clothing dilemma which, as Dexter pointed out, consisted of putting a jacket over her regular clothes), and her venting in her brother's lab. Dexter has definitely become better at the “supportive” thing-his line about Deb being too smart to think the job was easy was lovely, and his comment about Laguerta waiting for Deb to fail was remarkably astute for someone who claims he doesn't understand human behavior, especially compared to S1!Dexter. Both the Morgan siblings have come so far over the last few years.
-Deb handled the 'tude from the new guy LIKE A BOSS (no pun intended). She quickly chewed him out and then immediately moved on. It's too soon to judge him (beyond him being kind of assy, and kind of hot), but my bet is he'll be on Team Deb after that.
-I was extremely entertained by Walter, the Crotchety Old Man Serial Killer. Apparently remorseless killers can age in roughly the same way everybody else does, down to playing up their feebleness to guilt people into doing stuff for them. Dexter's deadpan expression as he repeated Horny Gramps' porno order cracked me up-talk about your idols with feet of clay. I'm surprised the list didn't include some Viagra Pills. Though I did love that despite all the grampa mannerisms, he was till sharp. I rolled my eyes a bit at what I thought was a “comedy” old guy can't find his house moment, and then he turned it around by showing he was smart enough to “gogle” (hee!) Dexter's plates. Or to be accurate, that Dexter was stupid enough to take his OWN CAR while getting close to a victim.
-But of course, beyond the comedy aspect of it, Walter was definitely the disturbing Ghost Of Christmas Future for Dexter. The similarities are definitely there, but at the same, there is definitely more to Dexter than killing, right down to changing his ritual to spare Walter's son the truth.
-Nice detail of Dexter automatically denying having kids when Walter asked. After Trinity, there's no way in hell he's letting his two lives overlap.
-I'm really enjoying Mos Def on the show. My theory is that Brother Sam is sensing that Dexter is, er, troubled, hence the trying to get closer to him. Though him proclaiming the service family-friendly while surrounded by tattooed ex-cons was pretty priceless.
-So there's this theory going around about Travis and the EJO character (imdb says his name is Professor Gellar) that I don't want to repeat, as I don't know how much of the speculation is based on spoilers. Suffice to say that after this episode, I'm starting to buy into it myself.
-Everything about the final sequence, fromDexter's slides thrown into disarray (MCH's expression of loss was amazing) to the Frankenpuppet Horsemen Of the Apocalypse rocked my socks-this season is definitely picking up speed.
