Don't apologise for the perfectly reasonable rant! And yeah, I agree with your take on why Charles chose "gifted" in the first place.

I think Hope has that problem some young activists do, where they are so eager to change things now, including the way activism is done, that they fail to appreciate the strides and sacrifices of older generations.

Charles is getting pretty sidelines in comics right now. I can only hope this changes in the future.
