Well, in supernatural fandoms I'd say "human" is a categorisation that essentially means non-supernatural creature, rather than anything to do it's biology (As Joss said, "It's metaphysics, not physics!"). I'd say it's the whole undead/combustible/on a liquid thing trumps whatever vampires started off as.
