I watch too much TV
A few random thoughts on this week’s TV:
-I realise that uglyfying the lovely America Ferrera is part of the whole show’s premise, but the show has been going on for a while now-is Betty EVER going to take out these braces?
-The show needs more Amanda and Marc, and less of that French kid with the girly hair. In fact, the less Daniel it has, the happier it makes me-I cracked up when Willhemena dismissed him as an irrelevant moron, because you know what? He IS.
-Another character who’s past their relevance is Alexis. I’m not surprised Rebecca wants out of the show, her character barely does anything anymore.
-I, for one, am missing neither Henry The Whiny (if surprisingly ripped) Accountant or Gio. Good riddance. On the other hand, I’d like to see more of Betty’s cute neighbor.
-I usually watch the show half-heartedly rolling my eyes at the various gender and race issues/laughably bad dialogue/sheer cheesiness of it all, but I had to comment on this weeks Incestfest ’74. I mean, um, wow. I really could have done without the daddy/daughter snogfest (even if daddy was Skinner!)
-I suppose Mary being a kickass hunter might be a tiny-teeny baby step towards somewhat counterbalancing the fact every woman on the show is a)demon b)victim or c)gratuitous T&A, but this effort was undermined by her a)being all about leaving the biz to nest and procreate and b)selling her unborn to good old Yellow Eyes. And the rape threats. You can’t have SPN without sexual violence towards women being mentioned.
-Castiel continues to be impossibly hawt. Maybe that’s why he burns people’s eyes out.
-I do love Sookie. Many people on the TWP forums find her annoying, but I’m such an Anna Paquin fan I find her naiveté, perkiness, and utter lack of self-preservation actually endearing.
-I’m on the fence regarding Bill’s hotness. At times I totally get it, and other times…well, he seems a bit too hillbilly for my taste.
-Speaking of hillbillies, I find most of the tertiary characters on the show more alien and disturbing than the vampires themselves. No wonder Sookie hates her gift, who’d want in on these people’s thoughts.
-LOL, the vampire bar is such a stereotypical goth place. At least they acknowledged it textually-shades of Buffy.
-I’m not as in awe of Eric as most people seem to be, but there’s definite potential. I’m totally loving all the vampire hierarchy dominance stuff.
-I like Sookie and Bill, the grandmother character, LOVE Tara and could do with more Lafayette scenes. However, both the brother and boss characters bore me/creep me out in equal intervals.
-The whole Egggplant Penis storyline was a bit like that naked wrestling scene in Borat-you watch with one eye, equally mortified and amused, and laugh uncomfortably whilst being aware that it’s the lowest form of humour. The injection scene did get a genuine laughter out of me though.
-Anyone know if there’s a fandom/fic for this show already?
-Forget all the stupid Grey’s storylines. I already have. I only watch it for Bailey, and occasionally Callie, Christina or Mark. I did rewatch select parts of this week’s episode about a dozen times….the parts involving the GOD AMONGST MEN called Kevin McKidd. I was looking as hopeful as Christina when the Chief offered him a job (and man, that kiss nearly melted my computer screen), but…yeah. He’s too good for this show anyway.
-Mind you, if he had stayed, what would be his cutsey Greys nickname? McHottestOfThemAll? McTakeMeNow? McI’llStabMySelfJustSoYouTreatMe?

and I do think we are going to see A LOT more of Betty's cute neighbor!
I don't love the show as much as Pushing Daisies, or Chuck... or Big Bang....
but it is still funny and entertaining (and I need as much funny as I can get).
I don't watch either the Vampire show or Grey's.... I already have too many shows to watch!
Last Monday they have the best T:SCC ever (really expanding Summer Glau's role and adding depth to her character), so they've managed to keep me as a viewer. Plus Heroes is complicating things dramatically, which is keeping me interested. And I will never give up watching House (Hugh Laurie is my favorite!)!
I actually wish there were fewer good shows on TV because there are too many shows on now and the schedule will just be tighter in January.

Preferably without his shirt!
If you do find time, I reccomend True Blood. It's definitely growing on me.
I haven't checked out this season of T:SCC yet...or for that matter the last few episodes of last season. Isn't it in danger of cancellation? I'll wait and see how that goes, I hate getting hooked only for the networks to take away my crack.
I agree, there's too much good TV right now.
